Hey friends,

I'm sitting at the gate at America's friendliest airport (Phoenix Sky Harbor) wondering how it's already August. I feel like summer has just begun.

Today's newsletter is for job seekers (and I'm hiring!)

Let's get to it.

What's Possible in Your Career?

Last week I met a friend named Vanessa who studies Malaria in the Congo (I know she sounds fake but she is real).

Vanessa is wrapping up her current contract and seeking employment, so we talked about the kinds of positions she might apply for and what she could do with her unique set of research and academic skills.

One of the biggest mistakes I see job seekers make is believing that the opportunities they see listed is all that’s out there, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Companies create jobs all the time.

Before you settle on your next role, try your best to tick these boxes:

  • Spark Your Curiosity: Look for positions that excite you and make you eager to develop your skills, even—especially—in your free time. If you’re naturally drawn to something, look for a related role. Don't be afraid to follow your interests.
  • Aim for Meaningful Impact: Seek out opportunities with companies whose mission aligns with your values. Yes, money matters, but so does who you work with and having the flexibility and freedom to adapt to different stages of your life. Find a place where the work energizes you.
  • Play to Your Strengths: Focus on roles that leverage your natural talents. If you’ve got an extraverted sales-driven personality, a customer support role will make you miserable. Aligning your work with your strengths is a powerful form of self-care—embrace it.

I’m well aware that not everyone has the luxury of choice when it comes to jobs, and it’s a privilege to have options.

Just remember you aren't stuck, opportunities exist everywhere, and you have more control than you think.

📈 Behind the Business: Hiring for a Whole New Role

Firstly, an enormous thank you to those who supported the new GearedUp Youth Workbook!

I received many replies saying this is exactly what our youth needs and I couldn't agree more. Acquisitions like these are what I hope to do more of in the future. Which brings me to today's news:

I'm looking for a Chief Execution Officer!

A what-what?

A Chief Execution Officer, CXO, is someone whose main focus is execution.

They take a strategy and implement it, utilizing whatever they need to make an idea happen.

  • Need a team? Hire them.
  • Part-time? Perfect.
  • Project-based? Not a problem.

This is in response to the 10+ validated ideas we've got on the backburner.

There's much work to be done. Apply here.

⚡️ Quicklinks

  • The most effective book I've read all year: Attached has changed my life. The audible version is A+.
  • Makers vs Managers: This talk by Alex Hormozi should be in the back pocket of every employee. Makers really do time differently, and if you want to make the most of your team, understand the distinction.
  • Shall we have coffee? I’m heading to Chicago next week. DM me your recommendations!

That it from me. Have a great week!
