SPONSORED BY KITHey Reader, Some of you know this about me because I'm a Feng Shui energy geek, but I see colors around people. It's not like light blasting from the crown of your head; it's more of a subtle visual in my mind's eye. Sometimes it's one soft color, sometimes two or three together––they change depending on the person's mood and the moment, and I've always used them as a way to explore how someone might be feeling. I use it with myself, too, especially on days when I can't quite put my finger on what's going on. For years, I've used this old color chart from 1997 to translate what I see, but last year the site expired and I had no reference guide. So this afternoon, I decided to make my own called Aura Color Chart: a living color dictionary. It's fricken awesome––but for a very particular use case. I used Claude and ChatGPT to see how each would approach the project, experimenting with different features until I had something that felt (cue goldilocks) just right. The tool is an interactive chart where you can layer colors, adjust for clarity and density, match unusual shades, and even keep a little color journal over time (secured in your browser so nobody else can see it). It also creates color cards so when friends ask, "What's my color?" I have a clean, beautiful card to send them. Here's me adjusting the colors: This whole thing is actually less woo-woo than you think (I've linked scientific studies at the bottom of the tool for the skeptics). It's ungated at the moment, so feel free to try it for yourself. It works on mobile but is best on desktop. If you do, hit reply and let me know on a scale of 1-10 what you think (10 being max weird).
BEHIND THE BUSINESSAI + Squarespace = WinningA ton of what I've been talking about with clients lately is AI-built sites (using Claude, ChatGPT) versus dedicated website platforms (Squarespace, Wix, Wordpress). I've had so many questions about this, I wrote an entire blog post helping people decide what to use. Here's the TL;DR:
More importantly, contrary to the idea that these solutions are competing with one another, they actually work beautifully together. For example, Netlify (one of my favorite ways to host AI-built tools) has a built-in integration with Squarespace Domains. That's how I was able to get auracolorchart.com up and running so quickly and securely as a standalone tool! We've built interactive maps, directories, text widgets and more for client sites. The sky is the limit with these tools (you just have to know how––and when––to use them).
